Enhancing WDFCC Operations: Our Control Room Solutions for Seamless Performance

The Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India (DFCCIL) is a state-owned company that was established with the aim of building, operating, and maintaining dedicated freight corridors across India. DFCCIL’s main objective is to enhance the efficiency and competitiveness of the Indian Railways in the transportation of goods by providing a seamless and cost-effective alternative to the existing railway network.

DFCCIL’s dedicated freight corridors consist of two main routes: the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor (DFC) and the Eastern DFC. The Western DFC spans over 1,500 km, connecting Delhi with Mumbai, and passes through six states. The Eastern DFC spans over 1,800 km, connecting Ludhiana in Punjab with Dankuni in West Bengal, and passes through eight states. These corridors are designed to carry high-density traffic, with faster transit times, improved reliability, and lower unit costs.

DFCCIL’s dedicated freight corridors are being built using state-of-the-art technology and modern construction practices. The corridors are designed to accommodate double-stack container trains, with a maximum speed of 100 km/h, and a carrying capacity of 13,000 to 15,000 tons. The corridors also include modern signaling and communication systems, such as automatic signaling and train protection systems, satellite-based communication, and GPS tracking, to ensure the safe and efficient movement of freight trains.

To achieve this goal, DFCCIL has set up two centralized control rooms at Prayagraj and Ahmedabad. These control rooms serve as the nerve center of the entire dedicated freight corridor network, where all the critical data related to train movement, signaling, and communication is monitored in real-time. These control rooms use advanced technology, such as integrated security systems, satellite-based communication, and GPS tracking, to ensure the safe and efficient movement of freight trains across the corridors.

The state of the art Control Room at WDFCC Ahmedabad is a marvel of modern engineering and design. It has been designed with aesthetics and functionality in mind, making it one of the most impressive control rooms in the country.

The interiors of the control room are modular, allowing for easy customization and reconfiguration as per the requirements of the facility. The ultra-modern consoles are ergonomic and have been designed in compliance with the ISO 11064 standard, ensuring maximum comfort and efficiency for the operators.

The designer ceiling adds a touch of elegance to the control room, making it a visually appealing space. The integrated viewing gallery allows for visitors to view the operations being carried out in the Control Room, while accent lights for section controllers provide improved visibility

The control room has been designed to handle a range of contingencies, with two situation rooms available to address minor issues without causing disruptions to the main control room operations. In case of a mishap, the boardroom is also available to attend to the situation without leaving the main control room.

Overall, the state of the art control room at WDFCC Ahmedabad is a testament to the power of modern design and engineering, providing a comfortable and efficient workspace for the operators while maintaining the highest standards of safety and functionality.

DFCCIL also has a backup control room at Noida, which is used in case of any emergency or contingency. This backup control room is equipped with all the necessary infrastructure, technology, and personnel to take over the operations of the primary control rooms seamlessly in case of any disruptions.

Overall, the centralized control rooms at Prayagraj and Ahmedabad, along with the backup control room at Noida, play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth and efficient functioning of DFCCIL’s dedicated freight corridor network, which is a vital component of India’s economic growth and development.

DFCCIL’s dedicated freight corridors are expected to provide a significant boost to India’s economic growth and development, by improving the transportation of goods, reducing logistics costs, and increasing connectivity across the country
